Bins and recycling
Household waste (green bin) and recycling (black bin and separate glass box) are collected on Mondays on alternating weeks. Collections do not change for bank holidays except over Christmas.
We use bin calendar 3 and garden waste calendar G9 on the East Hampshire District Council website.
This page lists the materials that can be recycled, including some unusual restrictions (such as only accepting bottle-shaped plastics).
Garden waste (brown bin) is a chargeable service collected fortnightly on Thursdays.
Internet and mobile phone service
Station Road and Wey Bank are served by FTTC (fibre to the cabinet) offering download speeds up to 65Mbps. There are no independent / cable companies present in the area so all services are delivered over the same telephone wiring to properties with all providers offering similar speeds.
Distance from the telephone cabinet is the main determinant of broadband speed.
Some residents use Starlink satellite broadband as an alternative to a wired connection.
Mobile phone service is very poor on all networks in the area and operators’ maps do not accurately show coverage. Service varies significantly along Station Road and Wey Bank due to local geography and forests. Check with your immediate neighbours for advice on coverage, but most residents rely on WiFi calling inside their property.
Milk deliveries
Milk.Club is a small business based in Bentley that delivers to Station Road and Way Bank. They offer milk, fresh produce, baked items and flowers from local providers, delivered twice a week.
Local shop, Post Office and Coffee Shop
Bentley Village Stores is our closest local shop, located on London Road in Bentley village. It’s open 7am to 9pm, 7 days a week.
Within the shop is the closest Post Office (open 9am to 4:30pm Mon-Fri and 9am to 12:30pm Sat) and Archers coffee shop.
Pub
The Star Inn in Bentley Village is closest (and comfortably walkable) pub to Station Road. The Binsted Inn, Anchor Inn and Hen and Chicken Inn are all nearby and offer more dining options.
Blacknest Golf and Country Club also has a bar and cafe / restaurant.
